Antonio Brown Won’t make the Hall Of Fame

In my opinion, baseball is America’s pastime, but football is truly America’s passion

Howie Long

Antonio Brown Won’t see the hall of fame due to his antics as an Adult Football player making MILLIONS upon Millions of dollars each season. If you are not familiar with the NFL, every player has an immediate goal. One of those immediate goals is to play and win the Superbowl. However, the chances of actually winning a Superbowl are even slimmer than reaching the NFL in the first place. To compare the frustrations of reaching the Superbowl in the NFL to the common man. It is like playing the Mega Millions every day for your entire life just to see the words sorry you’re not a winner every time you scan the paper. It is that hard, but some players actually do win!( You have to be in it to win it) Which brings me to my next point, Antonio Brown left the raiders to join the Patriots in order to better his chances of winning a Superbowl.

His chances of winning a Superbowl increased dramatically after joining a future hall of fame quarterback by the name of Tom Brady. I am not a fan of Tom Brady but his greatness is respectable. Tom Brady is really the Simon Cowell of American Idol, you hate him, but his wittiness and comebacks are impressive on the big stage. Not to mention that this man Tom Brady has a history of reaching and winning the Superbowl multiple times. Tom has hall of fame potential because he has never engaged in any unnecessary off the field issues nor had any problems with the team. However, Antonio Brown has done the following before even stepping on the field with his previous team:

  • Some how had his feet Frost Bitten
  • Complain and threaten to retire from the NFL for not being able to use his old helmet for the rest of the year
  • Not showing up to practices even though he is the star of the offense
  • CALLING THE GENERAL MANAGER A CRACKER
  • Now a case for sexual assault

I don’t know about you, but if anyone offered me 30 million guaranteed to do my job no matter if I do my job poorly or excel based on my previous track record, then I would like to think that I’d put my best foot forward just based off of professional courtesy.

Brown says that it was his plan to give up 30 million to land with the patriots, but why not just go to the patriots in the first place? Why cause so many problems and make yourself look bad in the process? His behavior, which is being seen by those that look up to him. It’s really ashamed for a talented player to act in such a manner when his potential hasn’t even peaked yet.

  1. Unfortunately the NFL HOF voters tend to ignore bad behavior. Terrell Owens for example could not fix his behavior enough to stay on one team for long. He was tossed around the league more than a $2 hooked because of his attitude and work ethic but he got inducted. AB is a clear sign of the cancer eating away at the NFL and professional sports as a whole. It’s all about $$ and ego for players now. It used to be about the love of the game but now it’s just how much money and fame can they get in the few years they have before their body tells them it’s time to quit.

    1. I’d have to disagree with you Adrian. I’d like to think that the HOF stands for something more than what AB has to bring to the table. Sure he may bring great stats now, but his character definitely does not belong with the greats of the hall of fame. If they somehow bring AB into the hall of fame it will do nothing but diminish the quality of the hall farmers there currently. I also think that TO had a lot of on the field antics that were far more memorable than his antics off the field. AB, on the other hand, will be forever known as a man accused of sexual assault and calling a general manager a cracker. Saying that this was all a plan to throw away 30 million dollars guaranteed to join another team is unlikely in my opinion. However, I agree that players today have really traded in their ambition and love of the game for greed. It seems like a lot of players have forgotten the dedication it took to get them there. I also think that players should get all the money than can get before they get injured (Example, Ryan Shazier) because in the NFL one’s life could be completely turned around in an instant. However, the way AB went about getting his money was totally uncalled for in the NFL. I don’t even think AB is a top 5 receiver currently, even with Tom as his quarterback. What do you think Adrian? Where does AB rank with you as a receiver?
